1. Babies don't drink milk out of sippy cups. TODDLERS do. Gawhh!
2. Organic? Regular? Organic? Regular? 6.00? 3.00? My thought process--Hormones=bad. Boobies early because of said hormones=extra bad. Attention because of early boobies from boys = WORST THING ON EARTH!!!! We aren't an organic home. However I'm really pro-organic milk. I know, I didn't drink organic and I'm fine. I also didn't have the type of schooling that I am required to give. Things are different. Yep, I'm about to compare cows to kids. Chemicals and hormones are pumped into our produce and meat and milk to produce more more!! more!!!!. Teachers are required to bend over backwards for little pay and forced to push push push and assess assess assess and no science. no fun. no arts. no play time. IT's ALL ABOUT producing more more more. Get the standardized tests higher. 100% success. Everything is about more these days. It's a business , just like the superintendent of public schools...and business that's focused on the bottom line, not always what's best for the kids, the teacher, the cows, the babies. I digress.
Am I being ridiculous? Maybe. Over the top? Probably. It helps me sleep at night though.
Do you do organic? Am I being crazy? Doesn't this gal have MAD volume? hehe.
Yep, I do the organic. I don't have kids yet, but we get free range eggs, organic or pre-organic milk. Those are the big things, because we eat a lot of eggs and milk. Sometimes I get organic yougurt as well. Organic produce is still too expensive, so I get regular produce and then try to hit up farmers markets too.
ReplyDeleteYou are not being over the top at all. Milk is different than when we were kids. You said it all right with the more, more, more! It's not good. We use farm fresh delivery here in Indy for our produce an milk. You get organic goodness delivered to your house once a week or every other week. Its glorious, its delish, it supports local farmers! And the prices are totally reasonable for what you get.
ReplyDeleteWe were notban organic household before kids (Sara will tell you!) But we've home almost totally organic now and we're loving it!
I do regular milk with Jackson. My sister-in-law does regular milk with one and organic with the other due to milk allergies.
ReplyDeleteI am organic all the way momma. Giving Landyn milk for the first time FREAKED me out! It seems weird. I figured organic lets me sleep at night so its WORTH EVERY PENNY :)
ReplyDeleteWe do organic milk, meat, and eggs for Lils.
ReplyDeleteMy household is half and half. My husband thinks it ridiculous but since being pregnant (and with the future kids) he lets me buy organic milk and eggs for myself. He drinks regular milk and eggs because he doesn't see the difference. And then all meat I buy is organic.
ReplyDeleteLaura, Dean's milk is NOT organic, but it is hormone free. Do a little research, there are hormone free milks out there that don't come with the organic price tag :-)
ReplyDeleteI don't do everything organic but I do buy organic whole milk for Gillian Grace. There's just so much yuck in things now, I figured it was the best way to go and it did put my mind at ease. By the way, read your labels for your apple juice. I now also by organic aj because I discovered some of my Mott's juice had concentrate produced in China...super scary! So important to read the labels, especially when it comes to feeding our sweet ones. I'm right there with you on being overly concerned about what they're consuming!
ReplyDeletehaha...we DO buy organic milk. i'm convinced that the reason little girls get boobies and their periods earlier and earlier have to do w/all the chemicals and steroids they are injecting in our foods.....ie cows to mass produce milk! but w/a family of 6 almost 7 we can't afford to go more than the milk. $$$$$
ReplyDeleteI realize this is an older post but I was wanting to comment earlier but didn't have a computer...I will totally do organic too! Obviously Makenzie isn't at the age yet, but my sis-in-law's, who has 3 girls, pediatrician said she is seeing girls start their periods younger and younger and said if you do nothing else do organic dairy. so there ya go...my two cents :) ps...i want lilly's hair- it's awesome!
